Hangar Lounge is the new airport experience by ITA Airways. Located at Aeroporto di Roma Fiumicino, it stands as a manifesto of the airline’s identity. The project also marks a milestone for Grottini, appointed to deliver this first global lounge.

CHALLENGE

The goal was to transform a waiting area into a space that celebrates contemporary Italian identity through design, comfort, and a culture of hospitality — creating a place where the journey begins even before takeoff.

SOLUTION

We translated the identity of the new ITA brand into a highly distinctive physical environment, integrating leading examples of Italian design excellence within a technically complex airport setting.

Hangar Lounge strengthens ITA Airways’ mission as an ambassador of Made in Italy worldwide, both in the air and on the ground, promoting the culture, talent, and innovative spirit of our country.

ITALIAN IDENTITY
AS AN EXPERIENCE

Hangar Lounge is an exclusive environment, accessible only to First Class passengers and Executive members. It showcases the very best of Made in Italy through iconic brands such as Poltrona Frau, B&B Italia and Campari Group, which also curated the bar’s branding.

Here, the striking “sky wall” behind the counter changes color according to events, transforming the space into a dynamic scenography and making every stay a distinctly Italian experience.

Every area has been designed to ensure comfort, ergonomics, and fluid circulation, while maintaining an architectural language consistent with ITA Airways’ new visual identity.

Through materials, furnishings, lighting, and gastronomy, the project celebrates Italy’s creative heritage, redefining the concept of airport waiting and transforming it into a premium experience.
